Welcome To the Walker Fox Hound Web Site! The purpose of this web site is to provide a place on the World Wide Web for information about the Walker Hound, one of the three major strains of The American Foxhound. The Beginning A historical marker was erected by the Tennessee Highway Department near the Tennessee Highway 42 bridge over the Obey River south of Albany, Kentucky. Inscribed on the sign - "Tennessee Lead" Near here in November 1852, a black and tan hound was stolen out of a deer chase by a horse trader, taken to Madison County Kentucky, sold to George Washington Maupin. There as Tennessee Lead, he became the foundation sire for all Walker, Trigg and Goodman fox hounds.
